Got some questions?

Am I eligible for Disability Employment Services (DES)?

You might be eligible for Disability Employment Services (DES) if you:

  • have a disability, injury, or health condition
  • are an Australian resident aged from 14 to the Aged pension qualifying age (65-67)
  • receive an income support payment, disability support pension, an NDIS participant or an eligible school leaver
  • are unemployed or working less than your assessed work capacity

Within DES, HELP delivers both DMS and ESS.

What is Disability Management Service (DMS)?

The Disability Management Service (DMS) is a free service supported by the federal government. It helps job seekers with a disability, injury, or health condition who need short-term support, or for those who require temporary or occasional support once employed.

What is Employment Support Service (ESS)?

The Employment Support Service (ESS) is a free service supported by the federal government. It helps job seekers with a disability, injury or health condition who require long-term, regular, and ongoing support in the workplace.

What other employment programs are available?

Help offers multiple employment pathways to suit your needs. If DES isn’t the right path for you, then School Leaver Employment Supports or Supported Employment might be a better fit.

School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) is a program of individualised support for school leavers and recent high school graduates. We help you build the skills and confidence to find and maintain a fulfilling job.

Supported Employment (SEM) is a program where you work in a supported environment across one of Help’s social enterprise businesses. SEM provides an opportunity to develop skills, earn your own income, and grow independence, all while receiving extra support on the job.
