Available at 5 of our locations across SEQ, apply now to secure a spot and start your journey towards becoming work-ready!

We’ve helped Queenslanders (particularly with disability, injury or illness) to achieve their employment goals for over 50 years.

Supporting you to develop your work skills

Providing a safe and supportive environment for all participants is our goal. At no cost to participants, you will join small working groups at your chosen location and receive a mixture of one-on-one and group activities from our experienced employment coaches.

When and where?

Starting from April 2024, the ‘Helping you get ready for work’ program will have several intakes for up to 10 participants at a time and run over 6-8 week periods.

 

You can choose to take part in the program in the following locations:

 

  • Chermside
  • Sunnybank
  • Wynnum
  • Woodridge
  • Nerang

What can I expect?

Starting with your life goals and job-related goals, we’ll work with you to help develop your skills and confidence in:

 

  • Personal and career development
  • Resume preparation, job applications and cover letters
  • Job search strategies
  • Interview skills and employer expectations
  • Your transition into the workforce
  • Disability Supports Awareness (optional)

Eligibility requirements

The Ready for Work program is open to people who are:

 

  • Aged 15 or over and no longer at school
  • Live in Queensland
  • Meet Australian residency requirements
  • Meet other eligibility requirements

When are the upcoming intake periods?

Regular sessions run 2-days per week from 9.30am-3pm and include a 30-minute break for lunch (provided.)

What does it cost?

This Skilling Queenslanders for Work project is proudly funded by the Queensland Government.

This means we’re able to provide the ‘Ready for Work’ program at no cost to participants.

What is included in the program?

  • Assistance with transport costs to attend
  • Assistance with costs of interview or clothing for work
  • Lunch is provided

Over the 8-week program we cover 10 topics to help you prepare for employment:

  • Intake Assessment – we work with you to assess your goals and tailored support plan
  • Personal and career development
  • Skills, interests and goal setting
  • Resume, applications and cover letter
  • Job search techniques
  • Job interviews
  • Employer expectations
  • Transitioning to the workforce
  • Disability supports awareness (optional)
  • One-on-one post training support
